Thursday, June 14th – Old Time Tech- Try your hand at sending Morse Code messages, make a flip-book and a thaumatrope, listen to a Victorian era Victrola, make ice cream and more.
Wednesday, June 20th– Are You as Capable as a Pioneer Child? - Visit our working blacksmith and print shops, learn bee-keeping, make butter and try your hand as the chores and games of pioneer children.
Friday, June 22nd – Civil War and You- Expereince the American Civil War. Become a Civil War drummer boy, meet a lady spy, run an obstacle course and meet a Civil War soldier telling tales of the times.
Tuesday, June 26th - Rockford's Fur and Feathers - Enjoy crafts, games and stories relating to animals and birds who roamed Illinois long ago.
Thursday, June 28th – Prairie Play- Discover the plants and insects in our restored prairie as you complete a scavenger hunt, create your own mini prairie, make an origami insect and more.
Wednesday, July 11th – Take Me Out to the Fair- Enjoy a fun filled day hearing tales and expereincing coutry fair activities like midway games, a pie eating contest, seed spiting and competing in a paper jumping frog competition.
Friday, July 13th - Midway Art Exploreres - Go on an architectural hunt in the village, paint a picture of your favorite building and attach a story of what it was used for in Victorian times.
Week Long Camps - (2012 program)
There will be 5 regular week long camps. Short day 9:00 am-2:30 pm$95 ($80 members) or full day 8:00 am-5:30 pm $115 ($90 members) Campers must have completed kindergarten. Call (815) 397-9112 ext. 101 for more information or to register. Bring your own lunch and snacks (the museum can no longer provide snacks for campers due to problems with possible food allergies).
July 16-20 – History Mysteries - Use your mind, clues and imagination to solve some of our museum's mysteries by following maps, peering through microscopes and discovering hidden information. Learn about finger prints, dental records and other clues as you hear about some local mysteries.
July 23-27– Survivor Midway - Make rope, track animals and humans and work as part of a team learning to survive some of the daily challenges. Some tasks are fr0m the Victorian era and other are more modern.
July 30-August 3 – Midway's Got Talent - Join us for a fun-filled week of singing, dancing, painting, writing, and discovering your own unique talents. Everyone is good at something!
August 6-10 – Planet Protectors - You too can become a planet protector. Learn how the earth needs your help and the steps you can take to make a difference. learn some of the Victorian ways and some new ideas. Use scrap materials to create your own "Planet Protector" costume. Be part of Midway Village Museum's new Going Green Thru History orogram with projects, arts & crafts and much more.
August 13-17 - Wild & Whimsical Ideas - Spend the week checking out some of the ideas and inventions of Illinoisans, then put on your own thinking cap (designed by you) and develop an object or idea that you think would make Rockford a better place.
