Kate O'Connor

KATE O'CONNOR
Rockford Community Leader, Visionary

We invite you to step back into Rockford's rich and vibrant history at Midway Village Museum, and learn more about the people who made this community great. These include leaders and visionaries, like Kate O'Connor. Born in Rockford in 1863 to an Irish immigrant family, Kate was the youngest of eight children. In addition to serving as Deputy to the County Clerk for Winnebago and practicing law in private practice, she is best remembered for her work in the women's suffrage movement and the ratification of the 19th Amendment for which she was honored along with Jane Addams in 1929. Kate is just one of the truly amazing people you'll learn about when you visit Midway!
